First launched in 1967 Targa has seen a variety of confirmation over the next year and is supported by an air-cooled flat-six engine and then water-cooled.
This is a fairly unique with other rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz SL and BMW 6 Series Convertible opt for a full convertible top.
Different versions of the Porsche 911 Targa Convertible with maintaining the 'bubble' glass remains behind with opening directly above the passenger's head while the convertible fabric roof folds completely flat under a glass dome.
Clever roof design
Targa version means having a central part of the roof that folds away leaving the occupants open to the elements. Fixed rear glass dome on the roof of the center spot with either top or stored away.
The mechanism which operates the opening and closing of the roof is quite clever, with the back of the glass dome lifting and back, then fold the fabric roof and rear, placing it folded in the rear parcel shelf. Then the glass dome lowered back into place. Worthy of the best ballet choreography.
Two versions
Porsche 911 Targa comes in two flavors: Targa 4 and Targa 4 S 4 refers to the fact this version is a four-wheel drive and 4S have more power and greater performance.
As with all Porsche 911s no automatic gearbox option Porsche better (known as PDK) or with a manual gearbox the most commonly used seven forward gears plus reverse.
Experience the pleasure of driving
The flat-six 'boxer' engine is as iconic as the 911 itself - providing great performance and evocative sound track. The latest 3.4-liter version is no different.
There are a lot of power even under low and it is as the revs climb began building more power. At low revs the engine docile and friendly, at high revs it pour through four-wheel power, choose the 911 and the sling shot throwing it in the street.
Almost under the roof of the automotive
Targa idea is way more simple and convenient to have a lower roof automotive, while still retaining some decent shelter from the elements. The down side is that it can get a little beat as fast as the speed of over 50 mph.
Targa is equipped with a discreet spoiler on the windscreen which is designed to help keep the occupants of the main wind blast and certainly seems to be effective up to 50mph. After the noise and buffeting seems to increase notably and makes it more difficult to listen to the radio or hold a conversation.
Note machine though it comes through loud and clear, especially as the revs climb past the 3000rpm.
Driver's view
Obviously high performance cars such as the Porsche 911 Targa out to deliver a driving experience that is really interesting and fun.
All the hours and facia that surrounds the driver aims to make the driving experience more enjoyable. The rev counter dominates as a call center that occupies the driver's eye, with four other rapidly, the two sides, which overlap each other.
This important information is easily recognizable by a digital reading of the speed dial is placed just below the rev counter.
Dashboard middle though is decorated with buttons and fast, and takes some getting to know and skilled fingers to select the function you are after. This is aided by clear touch screen though, which helps make choosing a variety of functions to move more easily.
